Forwarding email from a Miami Google account to another email address
Solution:

Want to learn how to get the most out of all that Google has to offer? Visit Miami’s new Google-News website at www.miamioh.edu/GoogleNews.

Faculty, staff and students are also welcome to join the new Google-News group. The group will provide email alerts about updates to the Miami Google Apps system and the latest news from Google. Sign up by clicking the link on the Google-News site.

You can forward your Miami email to another account of your choice (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) by updating the forwarding address in your Google mailbox settings. Any email sent to your UniqueID@muohio.edu or UniqueID@miamioh.edu address will automatically be forwarded to this account.

Forwarding your messages to an address outside the Miami Mail environment introduces security risks. Miami is not responsible for the protection of messages when they leave Miami's email system. By choosing to use an external email account, you accept this responsibility yourself.

Note to Students: Although this service is available, Miami strongly recommends that you not forward your email to another account while you are a Miami student. Miami uses email as a method of transmitting official university communications and relies on students to check email regularly (see the student email policy in the Student Handbook). By forwarding your email, you run the risk of blocked attachments, full mailboxes, and potential exposure of confidential data.

Details:

To configure email forwarding in Google

b. Mark Miami University Mail's copy as Read - this option keeps the messages in the inbox and marks them as read.

c. Archive Miami University Mail's copy - this option will remove messages from the inbox, but they will still be viewable from the All Mail folder.

d. Delete Miami University Mail's copy - this option will permanently delete all messages once they have been forwarded to your other email address.
