Using POP to retrieve email from Miami Mail accounts

Faculty, staff and students are also welcome to join the new Google-News group. The group will provide email alerts about updates to the Miami Google Apps system and the latest news from Google. Sign up by clicking the link on the Google-News site.

To configure an email client such as Mac Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook, etc. to retrieve mail using the POP protocol, you must first enable POP in your mailbox settings.



Details:

To configure your email account to use POP

1. Log in to your Miami Mail (Google) account and go to your inbox.

2. Click Settings.

3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.

4. Next to the heading POP Access, click the button to Enable POP.

5. Click Save Changes.


POP3 Settings:

Account Type: POP3

Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com

Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com

Outgoing SMTP: Requires authentication

Incoming server port: 995

Incoming server: SSL required

Outgoing server port: 465

Outgoing server: SSL required
