Migrating email from the Miami Exchange email system to muConnect powered by Google (POP3)
Solution:

Note: Miami is partnering with Google to provide faculty, staff, emeriti and retirees with Google Apps for Education, including Gmail to manage email accounts, Google Calendar and a range of other Google tools. On or around December 21, 2012, all email, calendar and contacts will be copied from Exchange to the new Google domain MiamiOH.edu. Please see www.miamiOH.edu/gogoogle for more information.

The instructions below will allow you to migrate existing email located in your Exchange inbox to your muConnect powered by Google account. Messages will be migrated, unread, directly into your inbox. The import process may take several hours -- even several days -- and until it completes, messages will sporadically be added to your inbox.

This method, although simpler and faster has several limitations which may discourage you from using it. It will not migrate:

  • Folders other than the Inbox
  • Messages that exist outside of the Inbox
  • Sent Items.
  • Contents of Deleted Items
  • Contacts
  • Calendar Appointments

If you must retain these items please use the advanced migration instructions, Migrating email from the old email system to muConnect powered by Google using the Uploader (PC) or Migrating email from the old email system to muConnect powered by Google using the Uploader (Mac).
