Connecting to Miami Wireless Guest Access
Solution: Users who do not have a Miami account may connect to MU-GUEST wireless. See details below.

Details:

What You Need to Know When Connecting to Miami's Wireless Network

Guest access allows web browsing and is limited to using up to 384 Kbps bandwidth. VPN service using IPSec or Microsoft Windows VPN technology is also open in the Guest access role.

The MU-GUEST network is limited to 768K max download speeds for http: and https: traffic.

Guest access does not require a Miami account.

Note: Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to use the MU-WIRELESS network.

In order to connect to Miami's wireless network, your computer will need to have a Wi-Fi compatible wireless adapter (802.11b or 802.11b/g). You will also need to be located in an area where MU Wireless access is available and you will need to log in. The wireless adapter should support Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) encryption.

How do I connect via Guest Access?

1. Launch a web browser.

2. When your computer locates nearby wireless networks, choose the MU-GUEST network.

3. Read the welcome message and click Accept.

4. On the Success page, click Done.

If guests require additional access, a courtesy account should be requested. Courtesy accounts allow for full access to network services but have stringent requirements for approval. Please refer to the IT Help Solution Obtaining Courtesy Account access to Miami network resources for non-enrolled/non-employed individuals for additional details.
